Don't Cha

  1. The quality of lip syncing in the sense that the performance is very well executed but the technical aspect of lip syncing is very in time and exact as well.
The dance moves support the assumption that this song can be classed in the pop category. The music and visuals could be seen as illustrative as the cuts are quite quick and often in time with the beats of the song. The lyrics and visuals are also illustrative as the dance moves often support the lyrics at that point in the video. There is little reference to voyeurism and also little intertextual reference.
The mise en scene is good but could possibly be improved by increasing the number of props used.
The concept is original and there is a wide variety of shots used in order to create the right feel to this video.

  2. Good quality of lip syncing.

Good use of cuts and scene changes.

Shot variety doesn't vary that much but the way Alannah moves into the camera is good.

    Mise en scene
    - the use of the location is good and has been done in other videos and fitted with the genre of the music video

    Originality
    - the staging of the video is really good, the positioning of the characters was well thought out.

Overall it is really good :)

the 'Dont'cha' coming up on screen reflected the visuals and lyrics.
Voyeurism in the way that Alannah is dancing is commonly done in other music videos.

  3. The quality of lip syncing was very good. A good variety of shots was used which made it more interesting. The location could of been varied a bit more maybe shooting inside as well as outside. When the words flashed up on screen it looked very effective however it could of been done a few more times. Using the hat as a prop was a unique idea as it represents the song and how she is overpowering him. It was original and well thought out.
    Well done :)

  4. Lipsync quality:
    Generally accurate.

    Goodwins points.
Genre: relates to hip-hop + dance costumes. Women being objectified doing sexy dancing and men looking very dominant and unimpressed.
We don't think the setting is appropriate for the genre.

    Lyrics and visuals:
Apart from the seductive dancing and the 'hot like me' bit there is no relationship between the lyrics and visuals
Oh! and the bit where Doncha! comes up. Rachel liked that ALOT!

    Music and visuals:
She dances in time to the music and he nods in time as well .

    Intertextuality:
The combination of hip hop in the environment is very effective in conveying the message that hip hop artists want their audiences to be more concerned about the wellbeing of the fauna

    Voyeurism:
NAUGHTY! makes Steve feel naughty ;)

    Need to sell artist:
Puts the Eco friendliness back into hip hop. Builds a positive relationship between the artist and the viewers because it shows that they care.

    NO SHOT VARIETY.

    Mise en scene:
BASIC :/ Hippy hoppy costumes. Not much thought put into lighting or set.

    Originality:
Relatively original as it is set in a forest.

    Love Ruri and Rachel xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
